Ron en Ellen Bruining

My name is Ellen Bruining van Ommen and together with my husband Ron we are visual artists. After a long period of illness in 2008, I first started sculpting as a treatment and it soon became "real love".

In 2016 I made the leap to start working for myself.
I have my own workshop at home where I now make sculptures/objects together with Ron. Due to medical circumstances, I am no longer able to do everything myself. That is why we continued together as Ron and Ellen Bruining at the beginning of 2023. Ron does the heavy and technical part and Ellen works intuitively on the stones. Together we mainly create organic and often symbolic work. The combination of the natural and weathered wood, the idiosyncrasy of the stone and the sturdy steel amazes us every time!

We are always looking for wonder in our work, but we are also fascinated by the elusiveness in life.

Our vision is that everything unique that the earth produces is reflected in the material we use. The combination of the natural weathered wood with the quirky nature of the stone and the ruggedness of steel radiates life force. In nature you often see a symbiosis between organisms and we show that this also exists between these materials.

Our work is about life. And shows what concerns us as humans on an emotional level.
That is why we use materials from nature. This is closest to our natural being.

Don't believe what your eyes tell you. Everything you see is limited.
Learn to look with your feeling, discover what you already know and you will also learn to fly.
