The starting point of this floor lamp is an explosion-proof lamp from the 1970s. These lamps were mounted on the ceiling and walls of ammunition bunkers and oil drilling platforms. The lamps are characterized by their robust cast aluminum housing and the glass cylinder made of thick glass. For this design, the mounting brackets have been cut off so that the lamp becomes symmetrical. To turn it into a floor lamp, stands have been designed in which the lamp hangs centrally. The interior of the lamp has been replaced and 2 dimmable LED tube lamps have been installed which provide nice warm light. The light intensity can be adjusted using a floor dimmer. All parts have a structured powder coating, which makes the design fit very well in any contemporary interior.
No concessions have been made in the finishing of this lamp. Only the best materials have been used. The lamp is equipped with new glass rubbers. All connecting materials, such as bolts, nuts, screws and steel wire suspension system are made of stainless steel. A high-quality braided grounded power cord was chosen. Both the cord and the cables are supplied with a length of 150 cm and can easily be adjusted to any desired height thanks to a Quick-Lock system. (For extremely high spaces, longer cables can be supplied.) Both original porcelain E40 fittings are equipped with adapter fittings so that you can use any desired light source with an E40 or E27 fitting.
Old object: The lamp is made from an old, industrial and original fixture. This means that the standards of production were different than today. There may be small imperfections here and there in the cast aluminum and the glass. In addition, the test of time has left its mark. There is no significant damage, but small scratches, pits and dents may occur (see photos). After all, it is also a lived-in object that is half a century old. It actually adds to the nostalgia and vintage feel and look of the lamp.
